PBA Inivited to the A.F.R.O. Leadership Summit

Posted June 9, 2025

We are proud to announce that Place Bridge Academy was selected by MSU Denver to participate in the second annual A.F.R.O. Leadership Summit (Aiming for Racial Opportunity), hosted by the university’s Call Me MiSTER program. Held on Friday, April 4, 2025, this powerful event brought together male students in grades 6–12 from across the region for a day of empowerment, reflection, and leadership.
The summit focused on addressing the unique challenges that young men—particularly African American boys—face within public education. Many of these students journey through their entire K–12 education without encountering a Black male teacher. The A.F.R.O. Summit provided a space to change that narrative—celebrating identity, building brotherhood, and fostering pride.
Our students engaged in workshops and discussions centered around manhood, cultural awareness, the value of education, leadership, and self-esteem. They left inspired, uplifted, and with a renewed sense of purpose.
We are honored to have been part of such an impactful experience and are committed to continuing the work of creating spaces where every student feels seen, supported, and empowered to lead.
