Our New Principal Nadia Madan Morrow

Dear Place Bridge Academy Families and Students,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year!

It is with great pleasure that I am introducing myself as the new principal of Place Bridge Academy.  My name is Nadia Madan-Morrow and I feel so honored to have the privilege of leading this incredible school.  I have been a member of Denver Public Schools for 24 years serving in a variety of roles including teacher, instructional coach, Executive Director of Multilingual Education and Chief of Academics.  I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Social, Multicultural and Bilingual Education from the University of Colorado-Boulder, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership from Colorado State University. I am the proud daughter of immigrants, and live in Denver with my husband and two teenage sons, who attend Denver Public Schools.  I am thrilled by the opportunity to lead this phenomenal school and have always  described Place Bridge Academy as my dream school.  Not only does Place Bridge serve a multicultural, multiracial and multilingual population that I am passionate about serving, it offers a unique combination of bilingual, ELA-E,  Newcomer and MI programming.  In addition, Place Bridge has a deep commitment to serving the whole child with extensive wrap-around support including the medical clinic, Community Hub, mental health services and a myriad of community partnerships.   What a phenomenal place for our students to thrive!

Over the summer, our staff has been hard at work.  The building has undergone some renovations to make the temperatures more comfortable in both the summer and winter months.  We have hired a number of new staff members and our teachers have engaged in a lot of professional learning to refine their instructional practices.  We are ready to welcome back your students and kick off the school year.

Here are a few important dates:

  • School Registration will be held on August 8th from 10:00-4:00, August 9th from 12:00-6:00 and August 10th from 8:00-2:00.  You always have the option to register your student virtually through Parent Portal or you may come to the school on these dates to register your student, sign up for before/ after school programming, learn about the Community Hub offerings and more.  We will also be handing out backpacks with school supplies to students.  Translation and interpretation services will be available.  
  • The first day of school is August 21st and we cannot wait to welcome your students back to school!.  
  • The time of the school day has changed from previous years.  The school day will now start at 8:25 and end at 3:25.  If your student comes to school by bus, this will change what time your student is picked up and dropped off.  We can provide more information about this at registration.
  • Every other Wednesday is early release day.  Students will be dismissed at 12:10 on those days.  The first early release day will be August 30th.
  • Please look out for more information on Back to School Night and other family engagement events.

I am very excited to start the school year and work in collaboration with our families to provide our students an educational experience that allows each and every student to thrive.  My door is always open.  Please feel free to stop by, introduce yourselves and share your hopes and dreams for your child and Place Bridge Academy.  You may also always contact me by phone or email.  I am looking forward to meeting all of you soon!
